Information About The Department
The Department of Instrumentation and Control was established in 1991. Instrumentation and Control Engineering is an interdisciplinary branch which deals with measurement, monitoring, indicating, controlling, recording, data acquisition, data logging, and analysis. This covers fundamentals of Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Allied branches.
In the present scenario of globalization, for quality process optimization is a need. According to ‘Bela G. Liptak’ editor of instrumentation handbook, the next revolution in technology will be by process optimization. Instrumentation and control will lead this revolution.
The department has eight states of art laboratories with advance systems like DCS, Bubble Cap Distillation Column, RIB Process Tutor kit etc.
The department has strong liaison with industry. Recently ‘Emerson Engineering Export’ gifted Delta V DCS system. Rosemount tank gauging gifted microwave radar level gauge to the department. Forbes Marshall is conducting industrial lectures regularly. Honeywell and department of Instrumentation and Control had jointly organized ‘Nobel Initiative Program’. Prof. Douglas Osheroff, Nobel Laureate 1996 in physics had interacted with students.
