Cummins Chair

Dr. C. Amarnath, Professor Emeritus – IITB

In Cummins College of Engg. For Women, Dr C Amarnath is working as Cummins Chair to Department of Mechanical Engg . Dr C Amarnath, Mechanical Engg. Graduate of 1968, obtained a Ph.D. in the area of Mechanism Synthesis and Design in 1976 and joined IIT Bombay as a faculty member soon after.

Prof. Amarnath has established the Robotics Lab, Textile Lab and the Innovation Centre at IITB. Major projects under taken by him include a, 6 legged walking machine for BARC and a Remotely Operated Robot for the Army Technology board.

He was on the editorial board of the “International Journal of Innovation Sciences” and also had been heading SINE the Entrepreneurship Unit of IIT Bombay.

Deeply concerned about the lack of motivation for engineering design among youth he has been instrumental in initiating several technology competitions in the country.

Post retirement he continues to promote these activities and advice start-ups in Bangalore.
Recently he has been conferred as Professor Emeritus (Life Time) by IITB.

Dr. L.M. Patnaik, Professor Emeritus, IISC

In Cummins College of Engg for Women, Dr. L.M Patnaik is working as Cummins Chair for both Computer Engg and Information and Technology department. Prof. L. M. Patnaik is a distinguished professor with 40 years of experience in the areas of Parallel and Distributed Computing, Computer Architecture, CAD of VLSI Systems, Theoretical Computer Science, Real-Time Systems, Soft Computing, and Computational Neuroscience.

During March 2008 – August 2011, he was the Vice Chancellor, Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Deemed University, Pune. Prof Patnaik is a Chancellors’ Nominee for Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Prof. Patnaik is Fellow of IEEE, He has published over 700 papers in refereed International Journals and refereed International Conference Proceedings and authored 27 technical reports.

Prof Patnaik has supervised over 30 Doctoral theses and over 160 Masters theses in the above areas. He has numerous awards to his credit.

At present he is an Honorary Professor with the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
