“Garnishing Talent”

Taking forward the Skill Development & Affirmative Action initiatives, Eaton in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) introduced the “Garnishing Talent” program on Wednesday, 4 January 2012 at Cummins College of Engineering for Women.

Speaking at the Session, Mr Ashwini Malhotra, Chairman, CII Pune Zonal Council & Managing Director, Weikfield Foods Pvt Ltd gave a brief on the program. He said that the objective of this program is to enhance employability of the engineering student community and that it is focused on equipping the students from vernacular & rural background with appropriate soft & social skills critical to achieve individual & professional success. 

In the Key Note Address, Ms Meher Pudumjee, Chairperson Thermax India Ltd expressed the need to define Work Balance by setting healthy boundaries. Ms Pudumjee encouraged the students to notice their own relationship to time and the things they have to do. She emphasized the need of more women entering the corporate sector.

Mr Pradeep Bhargava, Deputy Chairman, CII-WR & Managing Director Cummins Generator Technologies India Ltd expressed the importance of   the Industry Academia collaboration which would leverage Industry’s association with leading academic institutions &facilitate interactive sessions between students & experienced trainers from Industry. He also shared the various Skill Development & Finishing School initiatives of CII

Mr Vishwas Deval, Chairman Maharshi Karve Stree-Shikshan Samstha gave a brief on the Cummins College of Engineering for Women & the expectations of the institute from the Industry- Academia Collaboration. He also implored the CII member companies   to partner with primary schools & help the development process at ground level.

Ms Madhuri Khembete, Principal Cummins College of Engineering for Women expressed her gratitude to CII & Eaton for the initiative & encouraged the students to make full use of the opportunity provided to them.

Mr Raja Kochar, Vice Chairman CII Pune Zonal Council & Managing Director Eaton Technologies Pvt Ltd shared the objective behind Garnishing Talent, which aims at creating more future employable talent avenues for Industry. This initiative will establish the Industry’s commitment towards enhancing the employability & empowering women and will also help foster Academia Institute Partnerships. 

This was followed by a presentation on CSR & Grooming by Mr Narendran Nair, Director HR – India Eaton Technologies Pvt Ltd

The “Garnishing Talent” program would impact 90 students from various departments as identified through a defined assessment process
