Data Management, Protection and Governance in association with Veritas Technologies
Cummins College of Engineering for Women (CCEW), Pune, has a very good, fulfilling association with Veritas Technologies. As part of this association, Veritas Technologies offers a Program Elective Course to CCEW Third Year Computer Engineering students.
Veritas Technologies is one of the leaders in the domain of “Data Management”. Aligning with its expertise and skill sets, Veritas has designed an elective course entitled “Data Management, Protection and Governance (DMPG)”, for CCEW Third Year Computer Engineering students.
The overall intent of this DMPG course is to make students aware about the various aspects of data management which are of relevance in the current world and thereby generating interest in the student community in this domain, from the perspective of long term career opportunities. The course covers different dimensions of the data. It also covers the various conceptual and technological aspects of Data Management. The course also includes the various “Case Studies” and the in-class Demonstrations.
The DMPG course is conducted by the Experts in the domain from the Veritas Technologies. Thus, at present, the course has been successfully conducted at CCEW. The course has been very well appreciated and enjoyed by the students.
Human Computer Interaction in association with Veritas Technologies
As a part of the curriculum design for Department of Information Technology (IT), in association with subject experts from Veritas reviewed course contents of Human Computer Interaction (HCI). It is one of the core courses for Second Year IT students. The valuable inputs from the expert team from Veritas helped on improvising the contents of Human Computer Interaction as per industry standards. As per the recommendations a topic on the recent trends is added in the course.
HCI is related to design field basically known as User-Centered Design or Interaction Design and it focuses on how to make computer technology simple, enjoyable and the most important usable. It is characterised in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and user satisfaction. Case studies related to persona, wireframing, scenarios, etc have been incorporated in the syllabus.
Design Thinking in association with IBM
Department of Information Technology of Cummins College of Engineering for Women (CCEW), Pune in association with IBM designed an Open Elective course “Design Thinking”. This course is offered for the third year students from all the branches. Design Thinking has minimized the differences between physical and digital experiences for the users in order to access global markets quickly.
The course aims to let students recommend a solution based on empathy, ideation, prototyping, and playful testing and apply design thinking methods to generate innovative and user centric solutions. Design Thinking has its applications in a range of professions like sports, education, healthcare, study, research to business and management. IBM with their expertise in Design Thinking with the focus on discovering users’ needs and envisioning a better future helped in framing the contents for the course of Design Thinking.
Unified Communications in association with Avaya
Unified Communications (UC) is offered as a program elective for the final year students of Information Technology. This course is designed with the help of Avaya. Avaya are leaders in cloud communications and work stream collaboration services. The company’s expertise is in unified communications (UCaaS) and contact centre services.
Initially, Avaya professionals conducted lecture series and trained the faculty. UC is the collection of technology and software that combines enterprise communication with real-time, asynchronous cooperation capabilities. A contact centre is a central point from which organizations manage all customer interactions across various channels. UC is an umbrella term for the integration of multiple enterprise communication tools such as voice calling, video conferencing, Instant Messaging (IM), presence, content sharing, etc. — into a single, streamlined interface, with the goal of improving user experience (UX) and productivity.
